Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer I
The NOC Engineer I plays a critical role in supporting the performance and security of the organization's network infrastructure. This individual monitors network devices, troubleshoots connectivity issues, provides technical support, and takes preventative measures to avoid downtime. The NOC Engineer I works within a team to maintain service level agreements (SLAs) and ensure network efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
· Continuously monitor security alerts, network health, server performance, and secured backups using NOC monitoring tools.
· Respond to security alarms, incidents, and performance issues.
· Ensure minimal downtime by proactively addressing issues and working with team members to resolve complex problems.
· Mitigate network vulnerabilities identified by NOC monitoring tools to ensure secure net environments for clients.
· Conduct network traffic analysis to identify potential bottlenecks and areas for optimization.
· Troubleshoot network problems, perform diagnostics, and resolve connectivity issues.
· Perform routine maintenance, including patching, updates, and configuration changes.
· Collaborate with network engineers and support teams to quickly escalate and resolve critical issues.
· Maintain detailed documentation of issues, solutions, and communication with affected teams.
· Support network architecture improvements and capacity planning.
· Track and manage incidents to closure while ensuring SLA compliance.
· Provide accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders on system health, incidents, and network performance.
· Document and share lessons learned from incidents and propose preventative measures.
· Develop and implement automation scripts to enhance efficiency.
· Improve monitoring tools and processes for proactive problem resolution.
Key Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
· Strong understanding of network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, and VPN.
· Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Huntress, SentinelOne, Microsoft Defender, SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix).
· Knowledge of firewalls, routers, switches, and security protocols.
· Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
· Scripting knowledge (Python, Bash) for automation is advantageous.
· 1–3 years of experience in network monitoring or network support roles.
· Familiarity with incident and change management processes.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Excellent communication and documentation skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Experience:
· CompTIA Network+
· Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
· Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is a plus.
